GOLD ADDY AWARD 2009
ADVERTISING CLUB OF PHILADELPHIA
I met Kim back in April of 1999 at a Bethlehem ad agency. We worked together for several years and I always admired her work. Our working together was the beginning of long time friendship and I knew back then that one day, Kim was going to design my wedding invitation. So when Thomas and I finally got engaged, Kim was already on our required vendor list.
We wanted a unique invitation, nothing cookie cutter would do – it just was not us. Thomas is studying entomology so we knew we wanted to incorporate the insect theme into the wedding invite. We also wanted everyone to know about the unique terms of our meeting. Our mothers were college roommates and we met for the first time before we were one. We grew up together, lost touch and got back in touch - obviously.
Kim helped us come up with a concept that made these two very different themes blend into one cohesive story - A Metamorphosis. Our invitation is about the transformation of our relationship and that of a butterfly from birth to current day - egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. It is exquisite!
Kim has truly found her niche. “Creative” just does not do her justice. She is magnificent! When she designs an invitation it is an extension of herself. The way she communications your message to the world is remarkable.
So we got this amazing invitation (on recycled paper to boot) and it did not stop there. The true genius of her work exploded by incorporating the save-the-date, the response card, the program and the thank you note all which contain clever verbiage that is spoken in the language of the butterfly. We also wanted vintage elements in the wedding and she tied this together through the font style and the design elements she used throughout the pieces. We even picked blue envelopes that correspond to the color of bridesmaid dresses.
Kim, we could not have dreamed of a more unique, cohesive invitation that represents the things that are important to us. It has surpassed all of our expectations and working with you was so much fun! You are truly passionate about your work and your beautiful creations are a testament to that! Our invitation will be a lovely reminder of our special day for us and our guests for years to come. Thanks again!
